Brief Company History
The principle function of IIG is to serve as investment vehicle and holding company for the
business interests of the Mufuruki family.
To-date, IIG holds controlling and minority interests both directly and through its principal
shareholders in retail businesses (W-Stores Company Limited operating the WOOLWORTHS
deparment stores in Tanzania and Uganda), Information Technology and Telecoms through
Infotech Computers Limited, as a minority stake in the real estate company Infotech Place
Limited. The group employs more than 70 persons in two countries (Tanzania and Uganda).

Ali A. Mufuruki (88%) graduated in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering design from the Fachhochschule fuer Wirtschaft und Technik in Reutlingen, German.
Saada Ibrahim Mufuruki (12%) is a marketing professional who before joining the family business as MD of m&m communications, was the founding Chief Executive of Scan Ad Tanzania LTD. She is a creative design diploma graduate from Kenya Polytechnic.
